The origins of Schnabel’s Beethoven interpretations. The world’s first complete recording of Beethoven’s sonatas, completed in the 1930s. The audio sources used for this release were newly created at Abbey Road Studios in 2015–2016, following a restoration process of the 78 rpm records preserved in the Abbey Road Studios archive. The recordings were digitized at 96 kHz/24-bit, and through analysis of the piano’s sound, the pitch—which had been unstable at the time of recording due to power fluctuations—was corrected to the correct pitch. From the remastered audio sources to the CD mastering, the entire process was carried out at Abbey Road Studios to ensure the highest possible quality.
