Description:
George Lee, a Chinese-American pianist who won second prize at the 15th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2015, began playing the piano at the age of four and aspired to become a pianist. He wanted to broaden his knowledge as a musician, so he chose a joint program between Harvard University and the New England Conservatory of Music. He is constantly exploring his own music through a variety of experiences and studies. This album is one of his latest incarnations in 2019. This performance of Tchaikovsky with Vasily Petrenko was highly praised by the British website "Classical Source," which said, "His double octaves are as fast as those of John Lill in 1970. Since winning the competition, he has performed this piece many times, each time giving the audience new discoveries and impressions. In the Liszt piece, which has recently been the focus of his interest, he shows not only his brilliant technique but also his thoughtful interpretation, which shows the deepening of the young pianist's talent.
