Prokofiev (1891-1953)
Description:
Nicolas Angelisch, a pianist who has been described as one of the world's best pianists and acclaimed by Martha Argerich, performs Prokofiev with his superb technique and thoughtful, outstanding propulsive power! Nicolas Angelisch's new album is dedicated to Prokofiev. Prokofiev is a so-called unclassifiable artist, considered revolutionary by some and neoclassical by others. A virtuoso piano player who came to public attention, Prokofiev left behind a fascinating body of work as a composer torn between two societies, between the culture of his native Russia and that of the West. The Piano Sonata No. 8, composed and revised over a period of five years and premiered by Emile Girelis at the end of 1944, is a "profound work," with a "tremendous amount of work. Guilleris recalled it as "a profound work, demanding great emotional tension, symphonic in its development, tense, spacious, and lyrically episodic in its appeal. Prokofiev himself premiered "A Brief Vision" in 1918.It consists of 20 short pieces, all of which are far from atonal, but in their characteristic dissonance, they are in some ways similar to the works of Schoenberg and Scriabin. In 1937, the year after the ballet music "Romeo and Juliet" was composed, ten pieces were extracted from it and recomposed. All of them are difficult pieces that require not only superb technique but also expressive power. However, Angelisch played these works without any difficulty, and at the same time, he accurately confronted the expression of Prokofiev's unique psychology and compositional philosophy, which is presented here in a wonderful performance. Nicolas Angelisch, born in the United States in 1970, is a pianist of French descent who entered the Conservatoire de Paris at the age of 13 and studied under the great masters Aldo Ciccolini, Yvonne Lorio, and Michel Beloff. He graduated with a Premiere Prix (first prize). He also studied with Leon Fleischer and Maria Joan Piris.Since then, he has not only won numerous competitions and awards, but has also easily surpassed them, performing with leading contemporary musicians with his incredibly perfect pianism, giving recitals in major music cities and at renowned music festivals, and receiving high acclaim for his performances. At around 50 years of age, she is an imposing pianist and one of the leading pianists of our time. Martha Argerich praised Angelisch in this way: "I have known Nicolas since he was a young man many years ago, and we have often played together. But I can't believe that soon to be 50 years old is so little known in Japan! Nicolas doesn't need my support at all, and he has had a wonderful and fulfilling career in Europe. He is sincere and humble. Intelligent and really great music. He may not feel like a 'star,' but as a musician, this attitude is very important, and I hope that people will pay more attention to pianists like Nicolas.
