Prague Spring Music Festival 2008" LiveThe Czech maestro Bělohlávek led the BBC Symphony Orchestra, of which he has been the chief conductor since 2006, to perform at the "Prague Spring Music Festival" in his home country in 2008. The program of Suk's "Asrael Symphony" and Britten's "Sinfonia da Requiem" is a combination of two pieces that share the same theme of "death". The program of "Asrael Symphony" and "Sinfonia da Requiem" by Britten share the same theme of "death".Asrael is the name of the angel who presides over death, and it is against this background that the "Asrael Symphony," an hour-long work, is born, and it is called Suk's masterpiece because it is filled with heartbreaking yet beautiful music, orchestrated in the brilliant style of R. Strauss. It is a story of suffering from an unbearable force, but at the same time, it is a story of overcoming that force and searching for relief and hope. In 1940, composers from five countries, including Great Britain, were asked to compose a work for the celebration of the 2600th anniversary of the Japanese empire, and Britten submitted the Sinfonia da Requiem.The Japanese government has refused to accept the work, which is entitled "In Memory of Our Late Parents" and has three movements entitled Lacrimosa (Day of Tears), Dies Ile (Day of Wrath), and Requiem eternam (Eternal Rest), all from the Mass liturgy, as a deliberate insult, but it is also a masterpiece in its content, a precursor to the "War The Japanese government has refused to accept the work, which is titled "Requiem for the Eternal Sabbath" and is based on the Mass Liturgy, but it is a masterpiece from Britten's early years and a symbol of Britten's hardcore anti-war stance.
