He has served as Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Principal Conductor of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Music Director of the Glyndebourne Music Festival, and is a master of British music with numerous recordings of mainly British music on the Chandos label Andruw Davies. The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO) has had Andruw Davies as Principal Conductor since 2013, and the third Chandos recording with Davies and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will feature the pioneering American contemporary musician Charles Ives (1874-1954), whose Orchestral Works begins! Ives wrote Symphony No. 1 as his thesis work while a student at Yale University, and Symphony No. 2, a work written in his twenties but first performed in 1951.Currently, Elgar's "Dream of Gerontius (CHSA5140)" is in the midst of a huge fever, with a nomination for the BBC Music Magazine Awards, a "Critics' Choice" by Gramophone Magazine, and an "Album of the Week" by the Sunday Times! Andru Davis has even higher expectations for his new project "Ives"! Tokyo M-Plus
