Edward Gardner and the BBC Symphony Orchestra present the Musica Polska Series, highlighting modern works from Eastern Europe and Poland.The fourth volume of orchestral works by Witold Lutosławski (1913-1994), one of Poland's leading composers of the post-World War II era, features Michael Collins on clarinet and Tasmin Little on violin as soloists! The first symphony, "Symphony No. 1," composed between 1941 and 1947, the "Dance Prelude" for clarinet and orchestra from 1955, a de facto "Farewell to Folk Song," and the later works, which are devoted to modern techniques such as the twelve-tone technique, are performed by Mutter on January 31, 1986, and premiered by him on January 31, 1995.
