A collection of unknown overtures from the British Isles! Maestro Ramon Gamba has been active in introducing unknown orchestral works by Vincent d'Indy, Miklos Rosa, Malcolm Williamson, and others, in addition to his famous "Chandos Moveis" (Film Music Collection). Gamba and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the pride of Wales, have teamed up to present a collection of unknown overtures by British and Irish composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Corwin's "Butterflys' Ball" is based on the children's poem "Butterflys' ball" by William Roscoe.Other fascinating overtures include an overture for a comedy by Henry Balfour Gardiner, great-uncle of John Eliot Gardiner, and an overture by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, who composed the music to Longfellow's poem in praise of the Indians, "The Hiawatha Song." collection.
