Richter, a master of the hidden graceful sounds of the Czech Baroque, is a member of the Potger lineage! The Harmonious Society of Fiddle Gentlemen, an ensemble formed in 2006 by leading players on the British and European period instrument scene, is now featured on Chandos' Chaconne series. This is the world premiere recording of the Cello Concerto and Violin Concerto by Josef Antonín Gretzky (1709-1769), an 18th century Czech composer who is said to have served as music director of Olomouc Cathedral. The 1st violin & soloist is Rodolfo Richter, a virtuoso who studied with Monika Haggett and succeeded Rachel Podger as 1st violin of the Palladian Ensemble (now the Palladians).The soloist for the cello concerto is Kinga Gaboriani, guest principal cellist for OAE and English Concerts and viola da gamba player for Gardiner & English Baroque Soloists. These virtuosos' brilliant performances will bring the unknown concertos of the Czech Baroque to life with elegance and grace. Tokyo M-Plus
