The Deftones are the lone explorers in the heavy music/loud scene. It has been 20 years since the release of their alternative metal masterpiece "WHITE PONY" in 2000, which marked a drastic change in direction from heavy new metal and broke new ground where emotion and aggression coexist. This innovative "20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition" includes the original album on CD1 and "BLACK STALLION" on CD2, which is a collection of remixes made in collaboration with musicians and artists from different genres. Deftones is a solitary explorer in the heavy music/loud scene. In September this year, they released their ninth studio album "OHMS," which debuted at No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Album Chart. This year, 2020, is also the 20th anniversary of the release of "WHITE PONY," an alternative metal masterpiece released in 2000. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of "WHITE PONY," the band is releasing a "deluxe edition" of the 2-CD set. This release is not just a "look back" reissue of the album, as the band has continued to evolve and combine their past steps, memories, and works without indulging in nostalgia.While facing the original album, this work looks forward and explores new possibilities for heavy music. This "WHITE PONY (20TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION)" features the original album on CD1 and "BLACK STALLION," a collection of remixes made in collaboration with musicians and artists across genres, on CD2. BLACK STALLION" features a wide variety of artists from metal to hip-hop, indie rock to electro. The first track released from the album is a remix of "Knife Prty" by synth-pop artist Purity Ring. Other artists include Robert Smith of The Cure to DJ Shadow, Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park, as well as Phantogram from the dark pop scene, Squarepusher known for his avant-garde experimental electro sounds, beatmaker Clams Casino The album also features record producer Salva and noise artist Blank Mass, among others.The idea for "Black Stallion" was actually born in 2000, when the band was already working on WHITE PONY. Inspired by the sound collage aesthetic of DJ Shadow, also from Sacramento, Deftones wanted him to remix the entire album "White Pony," but it never happened.
