This year, he has continued to release various works, including unreleased albums, rare live works, and reissues of archive boxes, and has now delivered his latest recording, "BEFORE AND AFTER," his first in a year. The album will be released in three formats: CD, analog, and a Blu-ray disc containing the album's atmos mix, binaural mix, and 96kHz/24bit high-resolution audio. BEFORE AND AFTER" is an album with a different feel from any of his previous works, in which he has selected various favorite songbooks from his vast collection of original compositions as if he were on a journey through his own musical history, performed them alone, and created a continuous flow of music. This album has a different feel from any of his previous works.Young went on a solo tour titled "Coastal" from June to July 2023. He performed his own songs alone, as if reflecting on his own life, and "Before and After" is a 48-minute continuous flow of 13 songs built around the songs he played on that tour. Produced by Lou Adler and Neil Young himself, and mixed by Neil Young and Nico Borras, also known as The Volume Dealers, Young was like a painter with a new palette, weaving together songs he had rarely performed live and popular favorites. Young's new approach is like a painter with a new palette. As he said at the beginning of the album, this album is an album that strongly expresses his commitment as an artist, as if he rejects the recent digital way of listening, such as shuffling and skipping.
