The Flaming Lips
Description:
The Flaming Lips are a modern-day cult icon who have developed a surreal, artistic, and mysterious world. Their ninth album, "THE SOFT BULLETIN," was released in 1999 and marked the evolution of their sound style from the guitar-oriented sound of their earlier albums to a more eclectic, ever-changing style. Zoetrope is supervised by specialist Drew Tetz and the brains behind the Lips, Wayne Coyne! The Flaming Lips are a cult icon led by the genius Wayne Coyne, who continues to create his own unique psychedelic and magical world of surreal and artistic sound. With their euphoric, cathartic performances and genre-bending, experimental and avant-garde approach, the band has always been creating innovative sounds, and their ninth album "THE SOFT BULLETIN", released in 1999, is now available in a limited edition 2-CD set celebrating the 25th anniversary of its release! The album is now available as a limited edition two-disc Zoetrope analog to commemorate the 25th anniversary of its release! THE SOFT BULLETIN" is an album of great significance, as it was the first album to spread their musical gospel to the mainstream scene, even though they had released a variety of experimental works up to that point. The Flaming Lips' evolution from their previous guitar-oriented alternative rock style to an elaborately constructed, self-satisfied style with multiple layers of sound, "MULLETIN" was an important step in the evolution of the band and its frontman, Wayne Coyne, into a band with a major presence in the mainstream. It is an important work that cannot be overlooked when discussing the history of the Lips, as it propelled the band and its frontman, Wayne Coyne, into the major field. This zoetrope 2-CD analog disc "THE SOFT BULLETIN (25TH ANNIVERSARY)" is being released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of this album. This analog disc features a zoetrope, also known as a rotating peephole. The zoetrope animation, which moves as it spins on a turntable, is supervised by zoetrope specialist Drew Tetz and Wayne Coyne, the brains behind the Lips. Also, for the 25th anniversary, the album features new sleeve artwork, which includes newly written text by Wayne. Wayne Coyne recently shared his recollections about the album THE SOFT BULLETIN on his Instagram. There, he said of the album's finale, "Sleeping On The Roof"; "This little piece condenses the theme of the work 'THE SOFT BULLETIN'. It is bleak and resigned, yet comforting at the same time.... And at once desperate and hopeful..."
