THE DANCE, known as a cult band for its danceable sound among the many post-punk/no-wave bands that emerged in New York City in the early 1980s, features the cute, freaky voice of Eugenie DiSerio, the band's red-hot star, and her sexy self-made fashion, The band's red-hot Eugenie DiSerio, with her cute, freaky vocals and sexy, self-made fashion, and their "dance" sound, which was introduced to Afro rhythms before Talking Heads, and to the disco floor before Africa Bambaata's "Planet Rock", are all very cool! This album contains 4 songs from their 1980 EP "DANCE FOR YOUR DINNER", a 12" version of the disco-punk classic "IN LUST", the B-side of the single "YOU GOT TO KNOW" which was not included on the album, and 2 previously unreleased songs. All of them are top-notch NO WAVE killers, especially "DO DADA", a very popular Afro-disco punk number that has been included in various compilations.This is a great compilation of the best of New York City in the early 80s, when hip-hop, house, and POST PUNK were in their infancy, and you can feel the badness of the city.
