This is a unique collection of works arranged for "cello ensemble" from a variety of music from the 19th to 21st centuries. The eight selected pieces draw inspiration from the cello instrument, and express its power and "mysterious tone," which can be likened to the human voice. The Northwestern University Cello Ensemble is comprised of current and former students of the university's Beinen Conservatory of Music, and was named one of the "Top 25 Classical Recordings of 2015" by The New York Times and one of the "Classical Recordings of 2015" by The New Yorker, thanks to its intense expressive power.
