The new Bach recording by Mahan Esfahani, an Iranian-American harpsichordist born in Tehran in 1984, is "The Music Book for Anna Magdalena". In addition to Bach's own works, such as arias from the "Goltberg Variations" and preludes from "The Mean Clavier, Vol. 1," this music book was written by Bach for his future wife, Anna Magdalena, who was a court soprano for the Marquis Leopold, Stölzel, and other composers. Esfahani's previous Bach recordings have also received great acclaim, including "Special Mention" by Record Arts, "Instrumental Choice" by BBC Music Magazine, "Editor's Choice" by Gramophone Magazine, and a nomination for the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) 2019. The new recording is also highly anticipated, as it has been highly acclaimed. Carolyn Sampson joins the ensemble for the soprano parts in the arias and chorales.
