A masterpiece by the son of Dallabaco! Fantasias for unaccompanied cello! Joseph Marie Clément Dallabaco was an Italian cellist and composer of the late 18th century, the son of Evaristo Felice Dallabaco (1675-1742). 40 cello sonatas and the 11 Caprices included here are his masterpieces. The music is written in the Baroque style, and the unaccompanied cellos remind one of J.S. Bach's Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, but there is no doubt that he was influenced by Bach, who was 25 years younger than Bach. This is a rare recording of a work that is not usually performed. The work itself is not bad, and those who like Bach's Suite for Unaccompanied Cello (this piece is an imitation of it, no exaggeration) will enjoy it. The female cellist Erin Ellis has a beautiful tone and is quite an accomplished cellist, and I would love to hear her performance of the original J.S. Bach Suite for unaccompanied cello.
