Orchestral music is good! A moment of intoxication with Moszkowski's lively and colorful music. Moritz Moszkowski (1854-1925) is a composer with many beautiful and effective piano pieces and many hidden fans. However, most of what has been released is piano, and many have been waiting for a recording of his orchestral music. That is finally here. Moszkowski's orchestral music, which can be heard in his piano concertos and violin concertos, is very elaborately orchestrated, and his unique writing style, which is almost unison-free even in large ensembles, creates an interesting sound. The Polonaise-like gorgeousness of the "Torch Dance" is overwhelming. Moszkowski's masterpiece "Spanish Dances" for four hands is an orchestral version by Philippe Scharvenka and Valentin Frank. There was a Decca recording conducted by Almeida.Another orchestral version of the serial piece "From Around the World" was written by Moszkowski himself and adapted into a ballet in 2013 by San Francisco Ballet choreographer Alexei Ratmansky. The colorful ethnic colors are delightful and allow for imaginary trips to Russia, Germany, Spain, Poland, Italy, and Hungary. Born in England, Martin West is highly regarded as a leading ballet conductor. He has worked to improve the quality of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and has demonstrated interesting endeavors.
