The San Francisco Ballet Orchestra's "Symphony in C Major," a work associated with Bizet, the first complete recording of the orchestral version of "Child's Play," and the first CD recording of "Chromatic Variations," are just a few of the highlights! Composed in 1855 when Bizet was 17 years old, the Symphony in C major was never performed during his lifetime, and was finally premiered 80 years later in 1935 under Weingartner's direction. It was first performed by the San Francisco Ballet in 1961 as "Symphonie in C" choreographed by Balanchine. The work has a bright and joyful southern European atmosphere, and the beautiful melody is impressive. Children's Play" is a collection of pieces composed by Bizet for piano four hands, and five pieces were selected from the total of 12 and arranged as a small suite for orchestra.Here, the remaining seven pieces are recorded for the first time in orchestral versions of all 12 pieces, using versions arranged by Hershey Kay and Roy Douglas. Also included is the dynamic work "Chromatic Variations for Concert," which was originally composed by Bizet as a solo piano piece and arranged by the great conductor Weingartner. King International
