The return of light that always occurs after an "eclipse"... Hilary Hahn's first DG recording after an extended vacation! Hilary Hahn is one of the most prominent violinists of our time, presenting a wide range of violin concertos, including contemporary works, as well as royal works of violin concertos. This album marks a musical milestone for the violinist, as Hahn takes more than a year off to record for the first time the works she has loved for so many years. These three very different works are linked not only by the violin as an instrument, but also by the idea that each composer, despite being away from home for so long, maintained some kind of musical and geographical connection: the Czech Dvorak, active in the late 19th century, the Spanish Sarasate, and the mid-20th century Argentinean Hinastera, who combined early musical influences with contemporary developments to create a musical language of their own. Dvořák and Sarasate were part of the same major current of late Romantic musical nationalism as Tchaikovsky and Mussorgsky in Russia, Grieg in Norway, and Sibelius in Finland. Universal Music/IMS
