Description:
Janacek's 15 piano pieces, "On a Shady Path," have been arranged for string orchestra and performed by Camerata Zurich, led by violinist Igor Karsko. The first recording of the orchestral arrangement and the first recording of the orchestral arrangement with a string orchestra. This is the first recording of the orchestral arrangement. Janacek's cycle is flanked by Suk's Meditation on a Theme from the Chorale "St. Wenceslas" and Dvořák's Nocturne. The theme of "Nocturne" is connected to the folkloric aspects of Janacek's compositions. French author Maia Brami has written a poem to accompany the new arrangement of "On a Shady Path," which is read by the author herself. It creatively alludes to Janacek's life while contextualizing the collection. Universal Music/IMS
