Description:
Mozart was influenced by his father, Leopold, who was a violin virtuoso, and showed great talent in violin playing from an early age. This is a revival of the complete disc of those five pieces, as well as the pseudo-works No. 6 and No. 7, and other smaller pieces, performed by Japanese violinist Mayumi Fujikawa. After graduating from Toho Girls' High School, she studied in Belgium under Franz Wiesy and Leonid Kogan, won a prize at the 1966 Japan Music Competition, and made her American debut in 1971 with the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Ormandy. This recording is proof of her firm position as a performer. The last movement of No. 2 and the second movement of No. 3 are known as masterpieces worthy of special mention.Includes Lionel Solter's commentary on the original LP (English only) Universal Music/IMS
