Mahan Esfahani, the first harpsichordist to be selected as one of BBC Radio 3's "New Generation Artists", was born in 1984 and is a top harpsichordist at the forefront of the younger generation, earning accolades such as "an extraordinary talent" (The Times) and "sensitive and dynamic" (Early Music Today). The Times") and "delicate and dynamic" (Early Music Today). His debut release of C.P.E. Bach's Württemberg Sonatas (Hyperion) was a great success, winning the Gramophone Award 2014 in the Baroque Instrumental category, and he was also nominated for Artist of the Year. He was also nominated for the Artist of the Year Award.This first recording with Arhiev is with Concerto Cologne, and by interspersing contemporary music between baroque works, the result is an abundance of fascinating harpsichord music that transcends time and space.
