This gorgeous 17-disc set commemorates Chopin, who will celebrate the bicentennial of his birth in 2010. In addition to the complete set of Chopin's major piano masterpieces, the set also includes a wide range of unknown piano pieces, chamber music, songs, and more. The recordings are all masterpieces that DG and Decca are proud of, and include not only the young Polini, Argerich, and Ashkenazy, but also the Zimmermann Concerto and the latest recordings by Brehat and Yundi-Li. The 17-disc Chopin Edition, released on the Gramophone label in 1999 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Chopin's death, was released at a mid-price, but this time the price has been reduced to a budget price.
