Recorded on July 21, 2009 at the Itzehoe Theater in Germany after competing at the Verbier Festival. The coupling of Tchaikovsky's grand piano trio "In Memory of a Great Artist," written in memory of his friend Nikolai Rubinshteyn, and the masterpiece "Trio of Sorrows," written by the 20-year-old Rachmaninov on the model of this work, sings the soul of Russian music with a clear and plaintive voice.
