This is the fourth collection of works by Arlene Sierra that "BRIDGE" has been promoting. Sierra studied at the Oberlin College of Music and Yale University Graduate School of Music with Michael Doughty and Jacob Dragman, and later at Tanglewood with Louis Andreesen, Magnus Lindberg, and Colin Matthews. In 2001, he won the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award at the Tokyo Opera City (juror: Oliver Nassen). This collection includes piano works with bird and insect sounds as motifs.Olivier Messiaen's music is famous for its use of birdsong as a motif, but Sierra's focus on insect sounds in addition to birds is a new perspective.(Importer Information) Recording Information Sierra: 1.
