Kamasi Washington's long-awaited latest release, Fearless Movement, is now available! Featuring Andre 3000, George Clinton, Thundercat, Terrace Martin, BJ the Chicago Kid and many more! Kamasi Washington, a saxophonist who leads the contemporary jazz scene with his overwhelming charisma, has announced the release of his new album "Fearless Movement" on . The new song "Prologue" is accompanied by a video directed by longtime collaborator AG Rojas. The new album, "Fearless Movement," follows 2015's "The Epic," released on Brainfeeder, and "Heaven & Earth," released after moving to Young, which Kamasi describes as a dance album. Kamasi describes the album as a dance album, "Not in the literal sense. Dance is movement, it is expression, and in a way, it is the same as music. In other words, expressing one's spirit through one's body. That's what this album is about," Kamasi recalls.Whereas previous albums dealt with cosmic ideas and existential concepts, "Fearless Movement" focuses on exploring the everyday, or life on earth. This change in perspective is largely due to the birth of Kamasi's first child a few years ago. He says, "Becoming a father means that the horizons of my life suddenly open up. Not only has my mortality become more obvious, but also my immortality. In other words, my daughter would live on and see what I would never see. I had to accept that fact, and it affected the music I made."-Kamasi Washington Not only does the album feature Kamasi's daughter (the melody to "Asha The First" was written during her first period of experimentation with the piano), but it also features a number of new and old collaborators, many of whom participated in the project.Andre 3000 (OutKast) on flute, George Clinton, BJ the Chicago Kid, and Inglewood rapper D. Smoke providing vocals, plus the twin sons of West Coast legend Russ Cass, Taj and Russ Austin of Coast Contra Taj and Russ Austin of Coast Contra, the twin sons of West Coast legend Russ Kass, also participate. The group also includes lifelong friends and collaborators Thundercat, Terrace Martin, Patrice Quinn, Brandon Coleman, and DJ Battlecat, making for one of the strongest lineups yet. The album also includes "The Garden Path," which was first performed on the popular U.S. TV show "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In addition to the 2CD and standard 2CD black vinyl, a limited edition 2CD red vinyl + blue vinyl and a limited edition 2CD red vinyl + blue vinyl with Japanese obi will be available for import.
