Description:
Formed in 1969 by Cliff Jackson (vo/g) and Jim McGillivray (drs) from England and Bernd Kolbe (b/vo/mellotoron) from Germany, this German hard rock band is still active more than 50 years after their debut. The band released three albums on the German label Brain from the end of the 70's to the beginning of the 80's, and as a bonus, the '82 album "DANGER MAN" released from Rockport in Germany. MIG-Music will be releasing the compilation in 2011! CDs 1-3 include "RETURN TO REALITY" from 1979, "SEE YOU IN ALASKA" from 1980, and "LIVE" from 1981, all of which were released on Brain at the time, and CD4 includes "DANGER MAN" from 1982 as a bonus disc. CD4 contains a bonus disc, "DANGER MAN" from 1982. In addition, each of the discs containing the studio albums includes live recordings of songs from the previously released live recordings as bonus tracks. The accompanying 16-page booklet contains rare photos and new liner notes.Harvey Janssen (b), Fritz Randow (drs), and Michael Karch (key) were recruited from the hard sympho band ELOY, and the band made a fresh start as a band. The '80 album, which is being released on CD for the first time, is a hard rock/AOR album with a more straightforward band ensemble sound, perhaps due to the departure of the keyboardist from the previous album. The box contains the band's turbulent period, with Bernd Kolbe (b) and Klaus Walz (g), who played on the first album, rejoining the band for the '82 album, which blends the sound of the previous album with more European melancholy and the catchiness of North American HR. Although a bit more manic than the first half of the 70's, it is an interesting look into the music scene of the time, and a must have release for 80's hard rock/metal freaks as well as progressive rock fans!
