Description:

A look at the social music movement "El Sistema" that gave birth to the up-and-coming conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and how music has changed society! This documentary film focuses on El Sistema, a revolutionary music education system in Venezuela that has been attracting attention due to the activities of the up-and-coming conductor Gustavo Dudamel. El Sistema is a music education system established by Dr. Jose Antonio Abreu, former Minister of Culture and State of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Currently, 250,000 young people in Venezuela are performing classical music through this system. Venezuela has been suffering from a deteriorating security situation and an increase in violent crimes. In 1975, in order to save children from crime and poverty, Dr. Abreu began to combine social activities with classical music, not to "learn performance skills" but to involve them in collaborative work.Thirty years have passed since the start of its activities, and it has produced a national orchestra, the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, as well as Gustavo Dudamel, the most famous conductor of all time, and Edinson Lewis, the youngest double bass player in the Berlin Philharmonic. The documentary depicts how "El Sistema" changed their lives and what classical music can do for society through their daily lives at the music school in the barrio, which is considered the most dangerous area in the world.
