Re-released in CD format! Pierre-Laurent Emard's masterpiece, "Catalogue of Birds" in its entirety! Pierre-Laurent Emaël's masterpiece, Messiaen's "Catalogue of Birds", is now available again in CD format. After studying organ with Dupré and composition with Dukas at the Paris Conservatory, Messiaen immersed himself in the Catholic worldview that sees the strangeness of the creation of the Absolute in all of nature after the war. He opened up his own world with "Catalogue of Birds" (1956-58), a work based on birdcalls. The premiere took place on April 15, 1959 at Salle Gaveau in Paris as part of a concert by Domaine Musicale led by Pierre Boulez and performed by Yvonne Loriot, Messiaen's wife. This collection can be seen as an exploration of a new sonic world, and had a profound influence on post-World War II avant-garde music. Emaël, a renowned Messiaen player (winner of the 1973 Messiaen International Competition), says that he first made a direct connection with Messiaen when he joined Yvonne Lorio's class at the age of 12, and that the many hours they spent together helped him to develop a deeper understanding of the composer. He says that the time he spent with Messiaen helped him to understand the composer more deeply.This CD set is a unique expression of Messiaen's sound world, which only Emaar can express.
