World premiere recording of the Passion Oratorio by Hungarian old music prodigy Jiří Vásěj Sterzel! Jiří Vášej Vášej, a Hungarian prodigy in the world of old Hungarian music who has enriched Glossa's French Baroque recordings on behalf of Hervé Nicquet, including Rameau and Mondonville, and the Orfeo Orchestra & Purcell Choir. The first "non-French" recording since Francesco Bartolomeo Conti (GCD 924004) is the world premiere Passion Oratorio by Gottfried Heinrich Sterzel (1690-1749). Born in Germany, Stelzel met Vivaldi, Scarlatti, and Bononcini during his stay in Italy, and served as music director at the courts of Gela and Saxe-Gotha. He created many dramatic works, oratorios, masses, and instrumental pieces, and was highly praised by J.S. Bach, who gave him great fame, but (like many other musicians) he was forgotten in the late 18th century.Ein Lammleingeht und tragt die Schuld (The Lamb shall go, bearing the iniquity) is a Passion Oratorio based on the story of the Passion of Christ, written by Sterzel himself. Once again, the audience will be treated to a lively performance by the Purcell Choir, Hungary's high quality chorus, and the Orfeo Orchestra, led by Simon Standage as concertmaster. Tokyo M-Plus
