Daniel-Ben Pienaar selected 48 authentic Haydn piano sonatas! Pienaar has also demonstrated his extraordinary talent in an elaborate album titled "The Long Seventeenth Century" (selected as a special selection by Record Art Overseas Review, Gramophone Magazine, and BBC Music Magazine, respectively). A native of South Africa, Pienaar is currently based in London, where he is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) and a professor at the University of London. He has also collaborated with violinist Narimichi Kawabata and trumpeter and producer Jonathan Freeman-Attwood. Based on Pienaar's own meticulous research, a total of 48 piano sonatas have been selected, 39 of which have been proven to be Haydn's compositions since 1765, and 9 early sonatas that are widely attributed to Haydn.While careful research and investigation continues into the authenticity of Haydn's works from his youth, the works included in Antony Van Hoboken's and Christa Landon's lists exclude fragmentary works, works that have been proven to be fakes or have been the subject of serious doubt.
