Description:
An explosion of exciting percussionism that takes the possibilities of the percussion concerto to the extreme! Colin Currie's overwhelmingly superb performance, in every direction! The first concerto album from the independent label "Colin Currie Records" by Colin Currie, a percussionist who is recognized by Reich! The album features two works by Heinz Carl Gruber (1943-), a Viennese composer and double bass player who was born in the Vienna Boys Choir. Both are full of dizzying virtuosity that takes the possibilities of the percussion concerto to the extreme, and the percussionism is so intense that one wonders how many different types of percussion instruments are being played. The orchestra, on the other hand, is also finely written and has a powerful sound. The sounds used include pop chords and droll dissonances. The cool and energetic development of the piece is also appealing. If you like Reich or Takashi Yoshimatsu, you will like this album instantly. ROUGH MUSIC" (1982-83) is a masterpiece that has definitively redefined the genre of the percussion concerto. The soloist's truly free and creative solos, free from traditional constraints, fuel the excitement, making full use of advanced and daring compositional techniques. The score is a carefully written and controlled "romp" with "wildness" as the title suggests. The first movement is rhythmic and exciting, as well as pop beautiful. The second movement is a "car chase," says Colin Currie. Ives' ghost in the driver's seat. This is exciting music that describes itself as "Berg, my co-pilot, guiding me to the song of the vibraphone. The third movement is a brilliant finale that brings the entire piece together, a feast of ideas that never ceases to interest, with simultaneous synthesizer sounds and the metaphorical use of Satie and Henri Soget. INTO THE OPEN... (2015) is a single-movement concerto, a memorial to David Drew, the music critic and Kurt Weill scholar who died in 2009, and is dominated by a dark, thin sound. It is challenging in a sense that it is the latest attempt at modern percussion writing, and the orchestration is expressive and symphonic. From an unsettling introduction, the music gradually and slowly builds up to an energetic and combative outpouring that seeks to overcome grief, but without any easy-to-understand classical resolution, and ends with a sense of sadness. However, the music, which depicts the human strength to confront despair, is truly moving, and the technique is even more brilliant. ≪Born in Edinburgh in 1976, he received the Royal Philharmonic Society Young Artist Award in 2000. He has performed as a soloist with the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, and many others. He also performs in recital and chamber music, captivating the world with his overwhelming percussionism. He has premiered works by Reich, Carter, Andreesen, MacMillan, Rautavaara, Aho, and Turnage, and has made numerous CD recordings. He has launched his own label, Colin Currie Records, and continues to produce more fascinating releases. King International
