Description:
Natalia Andreyeva is known as a researcher of Galina Ustvolskaya, a Russian female contemporary composer. This is a piece of her own performance of the "Piano Sonata" from Beethoven to Prokofiev. Reversing the process of the classical sonata form, which usually consists of three movements, eventually expanding to four movements and gradually disintegrating, she places a "two-movement" sonata, which is rare among Beethoven's sonatas, in the first piece. The following Scriabin piece has an elaborate sonata form hidden within a single movement, and the final Prokofiev sonata is a masterpiece. Includes Debussy's "Prints" as a bonus track, recorded in 2014. (C)RS
