The Duets by Rolla played by Master Accardo Old CDS 252 Alessandro Rolla (1757-1841) was a violinist active in Italy in the first half of the 19th century; he was already highly renowned at the end of the 18th century, and it is well known that the young Paganini visited him to ask for his tuition. He was also concertmaster of the Teatro alla Scala for more than 20 years and contributed to raising the standard of this theater. As a composer, he left behind numerous violin pieces that are still performed rather frequently today. On this CD, the Duets for Violin and Viola, Op. 15, are played by the great maestro Salvatore Accardo. The viola is played by Rimini-born violin and viola player Luigi Alberto Bianchi. He would appear on many DYNAMIC recordings after this recording. King International
