Description:
October 2021: A miraculous recording realized during the pandemic!! Yuto Suzuki releases Book 1 of "The Well-Tempered Clavier"!! ★SACD Hybrid Disc. Yuto Suzuki has recorded Book 1 of "The Well-Tempered Clavier" on harpsichord. Suzuki, who serves as Principal Conductor of Bach Collegium Japan, has recorded J.S. Bach's harpsichord concertos. The first release (KKC-6266/BISSA-2401), featuring Books 1, 2, 5, and 8, and the second release (KKC-6552/BISSA-2481), featuring Books 3, 4, 6, and 7, have received high praise in various publications, including being selected as a "Special Selection" by Record Geijutsu. ★The recording of Book 1 of the "Well-Tempered Clavier" took place in October 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic when international travel was severely restricted. Consequently, renowned producer Martin Sauer, who conceived this recording project, was unable to travel to Japan. However, the brilliant Yuto Suzuki conceived the idea of recording via remote direction and immediately proposed it to Sauer. This groundbreaking approach made it possible for Sauer to direct the recording at Toppan Hall from his home studio in Berlin. Renowned engineer Yutaka Kunisaki handled the Japanese side.Through meticulous collaboration with Yuto Suzuki and Mr. Sauer, we completed new recordings that could only be achieved in this era—from microphone placement to sound design. ★The "Well-Tempered Clavier," comprising two volumes. Each volume contains 24 pieces—12 in each major and minor key across the chromatic scale. No two pieces are alike, showcasing every conceivable contrapuntal ingenuity. Yuto Suzuki and Sauer have built an immense rapport since their Bach recording with Antoine Tamestit released by harmoniamundi (KKC-6057/HMM-902259). This recording progressed with perfect harmony. A new landmark recording of the "Well-Tempered Clavier," often called the Old Testament of music, has been born! ★Worldwide release on the Swedish BIS label. My father, Masaaki Suzuki, recorded Volume 1 of the same collection in May 1996 at the Kobe Shoin Women's University Chapel, releasing it the following February 1997 (BIS-813/4). Thus, two generations of our family,It's also noteworthy that the same work is being released on the same label! (King International) 【Contents】 J.S.
