The complete works for piano solo by the brilliant German composer Bernd A. Zimmermann. B.A. Zimmermann was born in Cologne in 1918. He studied with Foltner and Lebowitz at the Darmstadt Summer School, and although he composed using various avant-garde techniques such as 12-tone technique, graphic notation, and electronic music, he created his own unique world and created an individuality that did not belong to any one faction. However, he suffered in his later years and is known as a tragic composer who committed suicide by pistol in 1970. Since his death, B.A. Zimmermann's music has gained increasing recognition, and he is now a composer whose performances and recordings, including his opera "Soldiers," are on the rise. The piano works recorded here are characterized by music that develops dramatically in addition to the delicacy typical of B.A. Zimmermann.
