Truly magnificent works! Three symphonies by an American composer SACD hybrid disc. Walter Piston, who studied music at Harvard University and studied under Boulanger and Dukas in Paris, is known for his well-structured compositions in the classical style. Symphony No. 6 was commissioned to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Samuel Jones, who was also the founder of the Shepherd School of Music. Symphony No. 3 is titled “Paulo Duro Canyon,” also known as the “Grand Canyon of Texas”; true to its name, it is a majestic, wild, and captivating work. Stephen Albert’s Symphony No. 2 is an unfinished posthumous work from the very end of his life. It was composed to commemorate the New York Philharmonic’s 150th anniversary and its 150th season. However, Albert died in a tragic car accident near his home in Massachusetts. The work was completed by Sebastian Curini and received its premiere. As of 2018, Friedel has been performing extensively in Europe and the United States. He has been active in the Czech Republic since the mid-1990s and has since gained an international reputation.
