A must-listen for fans of superb piano music. Sudobin's "Waltz of the Little Dogs," a flamboyant piece that showcases his skills, was performed in Japan for the first time in January 2011, and he took on Chopin. As is typical of the obsessive listener, Sudobin avoided the pieces that would normally appear on a Chopin album, choosing instead a number of pieces in minor keys that are basically not sweet. His approach is said to be influenced by Chopin's own words, "After overcoming all difficulties, the final goal is simplicity," but it is also reminiscent of the interpretations of virtuosos of the past such as Friedman and Moisevich. A prime example is his arrangement of "Waltz of the Little Dogs," a legendary early 20th century piece. It is a piece of flamboyant pianism that makes full use of superb technique in the style of the legendary virtuosos of the early 20th century, and is sure to excite piano lovers to the point of goose bumps. Ullane once released a collection of arrangements of the Waltz of the Little Dog from BIS, but this arrangement is not at all inferior to those eminent arrangers, and is even more elaborate.A 19th century style pianist with 21st century sensibilities.
