The performance is by Miklós Spányi, who has been in charge of the series since its inception. At the start of the recording, Spani stated, "It is never a simple task to realize a complete cycle, especially when it includes the works of early composers. With this series we present all of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's unquestionably authentic works for solo keyboard and accompanying ensemble. Since our goal is to give a general perspective on the possibilities of performing these works, the recordings are based on a thorough study of the existing documentation and canonical performance practices of the works.We have chosen to play instruments that are 'authentic' based on the original source material."
