There are still world premiere recordings! The Sibelius series, which continues to record thoroughly with the persistence of the BIS, has now produced further unknown works. The Sibelius series continues its relentless pursuit of thorough recordings of Sibelius' works, but now even more unknown works have emerged. The other pieces are rare and rare pieces from existing albums. The four fragments are in draft form in the National Library of Finland, but they are difficult to decipher, and only a few clues to their orchestration remain. Thanks to Timo Virtanen's efforts, they have been made playable, but each is only a fragment lasting from 20 seconds to a little over a minute. The fragments are probably from the early 1930s, but with the exception of the third piece, which is an arrangement of the piano piece "Romance Op.24-2," the bold harmonic sense of Sibelius' late period is widespread, and it has been pointed out that it may be related to his Symphony No. 8. This is an important work that Sibelius fans must hear.The piano pieces "Andantino in D major" and "Improvisation in B minor" are two works whose drafts were kept in the Harvard University Music Archives until 2012. The former is a three-minute piece composed for family and friends on July 28, 1889. The latter, composed around 1893, is a seven-minute work that combines the fifth and sixth pieces of the later "Six Improvisations, Op. 5. Adagio in E major" was written in 1907, and the draft was in a private collection for a long time, but saw the light of day in 2012 when its ownership was transferred to the National Library of Finland. Part of the theme was later used in the slow movement of the string quartet, "The Voice of Dearness.
