Bon Iver launches a new archive series. The first non-studio album, *Volumes: One "Selections from Music Concerts 2019–2023: Bon Iver 6-Piece Band"*, is released. Bon Iver launches *VOLUMES*. As an archive series encompassing live recordings, demos, unreleased tracks, and other previously unheard material, it spans various eras and diversity, introducing the multifaceted aspects that shape "Bon Iver." Released by Jagjaguwar, *VOLUMES: ONE "SELECTIONS FROM MUSIC CONCERTS 2019-2023 BON IVER 6-PIECE BAND"* is the first installment in the series, featuring 10 performances that capture Bon Iver at its wildest, warmest, and most powerful. “This set of 10 songs is, in a way, a message saying, ‘To those who have never heard Bon Iver, or those who heard us and didn’t like it—this might be for you.’ This is who we are right now. This is our best. This is us,” says Justin Vernon. He began working on *VOLUMES:ONE* in 2020, crafting the ultimate tracklist from dozens of hours of live recordings. *VOLUMES:ONE "SELECTIONS FROM MUSIC CONCERTS 2019-2023 BON IVER 6-PIECE BAND"* is Bon Iver’s first non-studio album. However, it has been crafted into a work that holds more value than a mere compilation or live record. The band members are Andrew Fitzpatrick, Jenn Wasner, Justin Vernon, Matthew McCaughan, Michael Lewis, and Sean Carey. Through Xandy Whitesel’s meticulous live engineering, they bring the tracks to life in their richest form, delivering the definitive versions of these songs to both newcomers and die-hard fans alike. Recorded between 2019 and 2023, *VOLUMES:ONE* was produced in the lead-up to Bon Iver’s final live concert in 2023. It highlights tracks from 2016’s *22, A Million* and 2019’s *i,i*, while adding three significant new songs. “P.D.L.I.F.,” a hymn-like track born during the pandemic, symbolizes a new era for Bon Iver. The cover of Mahalia Jackson’s “A Satisfied Mind” evokes the band’s early days with DeYarmond Edison, when Vernon would showcase his falsetto during the band’s private rehearsals. And finally, “HEAVENLYFATHER” brings a long-beloved fan favorite back to digital streaming platforms. The passionate, introspective, and innovative aspects that define Bon Iver’s studio albums could not exist without the live band. And *VOLUMES:ONE* is like a time capsule. It’s a prism through which we can see our old friends—and who they are now—just as they are. The goodness they hold within, and the parts of themselves that are sometimes too embarrassing to show. On the night of Bon Iver’s final *i,i* performance in 2023, Justin Vernon wrote and recited the following poem to the band members: “The fact that we’ve spent time not just as colleagues, but as friends. And the fact that we’ve traveled the world together while each of us has performed at the highest level possible. We’ve overcome these challenges with a strength that no one has ever achieved before. I am truly proud to be a part of ‘Us.’”
