Two-time Grammy Award-winning multi-genre singer, composer, arranger, and producer Jacob Collier, who plays a variety of instruments, has announced the release of his new project, Djesse. This is Vol. 1, the first in the four-part Djesse series of original albums since his 2016 debut In My Room, an epic 40-song album written, produced, and engineered entirely by Jacob. It is an exploration of the musician's mindset of the talented Jacob, who continues to be remarkably active in a variety of musical worlds. Production of this Vol. 1 began on New Year's Day, 2018, and the orchestral music expresses the feeling of welcoming the New Year morning. Under the direction of Jules Buckley, the band collaborated with the Dutch Metropole Orchestra on the opening track "Home Is," featuring Voches 8, as well as Take 6, Laura Mavra, and Moroccan Gnawa musicians, including Hamid El-Kasri, among others.Djesse" is like an open invitation to the world to see the bedroom where Jacob has lived since he was one year old and where he created and recorded most of his music. Outside of the bedroom, Jacob has recorded in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, Abbey Road, Holland, Morocco, and Japan.
