UK-based producer Benyayer (formerly of DarkSky) has released his first full-length album, *Morpho*, via SoundRecords. True to the title’s suggestion of “metamorphosis,” this is an extremely personal work that captures his inner and sonic evolution as an artist. Following the success of his solo EP *Infiltrator*, this release features seven previously digital-only tracks alongside the new song “The Return.” It is a carefully curated vinyl edition, marking the first-ever analog release of all these tracks. Spanning techno, UK bass, Afrofuturism, and electronica, the album represents a thorough exploration of rhythm. His experience busking on the streets of London using “found objects” as instruments, his experiments with modular synths, and the performance skills honed at numerous prestigious clubs have all been distilled into tracks that are both raw and meticulously crafted. Excitement, chaos, introspection, and physical movement—it’s all here. The artwork is a collaboration with Harry Cresswell, featuring a sleeve with a double-sided laser-cut “dismembered butterfly” motif, a matte-finish inner sleeve, and a clear vinyl record—a testament to meticulous attention to detail. It is truly a collector’s item. In addition to support from curators such as Gilles Peterson, Benji B, and Tom Ravenscroft (BBC 6 Music), the album has garnered high praise from heavyweight artists including Ben UFO, Bicep, Laurent Garnier, Bonobo, and Modeselektor. Furthermore, his new live set—built around the equipment used on this album—has been highly acclaimed across Europe, marking a new chapter in a career that has already seen him perform at legendary venues such as Berghain, Fabric, Glastonbury Festival, MUTEK, Dimensions Festival, and Melt Festival.
