In September 2025, the sixth and final installment of the box set series summarizing his prolific career since 1969—the deluxe 13-disc CD box set *ICAN'TGIVEEVERYTHINGAWAY [2002-2016]*—was released. Now, the four studio albums and one live album originally included in this final chapter of the box set are being released as standalone titles. The releases include the four studio albums Bowie released between 2002 and 2016: *HEATHEN* (2002), *REALITY* (2003), *THE NEXT DAY* (2013), and *★ (BLACKSTAR)* (2016), released between 2002 and 2016, as well as the two-disc live album *A REALITY TOUR*, which captures the Dublin performance from the "Reality Tour"—one of the most beloved tours of his career. The albums from *HEATHEN* to *THENEXTDAY* feature 2025 remastered versions, while *★ (BLACKSTAR)*, Bowie’s final album, uses the original master. Bowie fell ill during the latter half of the massive tour accompanying his previous album and subsequently disappeared from the public eye for some time. Amidst this, a full decade after his last album, Bowie had been secretly recording sessions for a new album with Tony Visconti. Visconti recalls that time as follows: “We swore not to tell anyone that David and I were making a new album. Not even our own partners. He had two goals: to write and create without external pressure, and to make this new work a complete surprise release. Everything went smoothly. Except for the few times he was spotted going to and from Magic Shop Studio in NoHo, Manhattan, which made people around him raise their eyebrows in suspicion. Once, a fan who recognized me stopped me and asked, “Could it be that David Bowie is making a new album?” but I replied, “No way!” Later, when the rough mix was finished, I was walking around Manhattan with a huge smile on my face. No one would have known I was listening to Bowie’s new songs on my headphones.”
