British jazz guitarist John McLaughlin. Having performed with both the Miles Davis Band and Tony Williams’ Lifetime, he formed the Mahavishnu Orchestra on Miles’ recommendation—and now a live archive featuring the original members of that ensemble is here!
This release captures a performance held on December 30, 1973, at the Masonic Temple Theater in Detroit. It features tracks not only from their debut album and *Birds of Fire*, but also from the 1973 live album *Flight from the Void* , as well as rare tracks like “Trilogy” and “Sister Andrea” from *The Lost Trident Sessions*—an unreleased collection at the time that is often referred to as the “phantom third album.”
This is a rare album capturing the original lineup’s final tour.
