Olivia Newton-John, a British female pop singer originally from Australia. After cutting her teeth as a backup singer and in other supporting roles, she made her solo debut as a country-pop singer in 1973. She gained popularity when her 1974 single “Confession of Love” reached No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart, and she continued her rise to stardom with 1975’s “The Lure of the Breeze,” her role in the musical film *Grease*, and the success of its theme song. Then, in 1981, she reached the pinnacle of her career as a pop singer when her disco-style pop song “Physical” spent 10 consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart. However, she passed away in August 2022 after a long battle with illness. Now, a live album capturing her 1976 concert tour in Japan is finally here!
In 1976, she released the album *Don’t Stop Believin’* (original title: *Don’t Stop Believin’*). As part of the promotional tour for that album, she performed her first-ever solo concerts in Japan that same year. Among these, the concert held on December 1 at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo was recorded and broadcast for a TV program. This album is a live recording based on the audio from that broadcast.
In addition to tracks from *Love at Dusk*, it includes “Jolene,” “Pony Ride,” and other songs from *Come On Over*, released that same year. This is a valuable recording capturing Olivia’s first Japan tour in the 1970s, which still retained a country flavor. The bonus tracks include seven additional songs from a performance held in the Netherlands in November 1978.
