Akira Nishimura's last collection of orchestral works, which left a significant mark on the world of contemporary composition. Akira Nishimura passed away suddenly in September 2023. About a month before his death, he personally wrote the title and the works to be recorded on this "last CD" and entrusted the production of this collection of his orchestral works, which includes three recent compositions. Hua Kai Sekai" (winner of the Otaka Prize) was commissioned by the NHK Symphony Orchestra and was first performed in 2021. Butterfly Dream" was co-commissioned by Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka, for which Nishimura served as music director, and Tokyo Sinfonietta, which has premiered numerous commissioned works. Mystical Unity" was commissioned by the Pacific Philharmonia Tokyo and was the last work written by Akira Nishimura. The recording includes the premiere in 2024 with Masaru Kosuge as soloist. ＜Akira Nishimura (Composer) Born in Osaka in 1953. Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts and completed the graduate course at the same university. Composed many works using the technique known as "heterophony.He won the first prize in the composition category of the Japan Music Competition, the grand prize in the composition category of the Elisabeth International Music Competition, the Luigi Dallapiccola Composition Prize, the Otaka Prize, the Kenzo Nakajima Music Prize, the Kyoto Music Prize for Practice, the Japan Contemporary Art Promotion Prize, the ExxonMobil Music Prize, the 3rd Besshu Prize, the 36th Suntory Music Prize, the 47th Mainichi Art Prize, etc. He was awarded the Medal with Purple Ribbon in 2013. He was appointed as the Music Director of Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka in 2000, and served as the host of NHK-FM's "Contemporary Music" and E-TV's "NHK Symphony Hour". He has released many CDs from Camerata, including the "Akira Nishimura Works" series, "Avian [Bird]...Arditti SQ" won the Grand Prize at the 2002 Art Festival, "Metamorphosis: Chamber Symphonies" won the 2005 Art Festival Award of Excellence, and "Bruno Canino Plays" won the same award in 2015. Bruno Canino Plays: Akira Nishimura" was selected for the same prize in 2015. His opera "Shion Monogatari" based on the novel by Jun Ishikawa was premiered in 2019, and "Triple Concerto (Butterfly Dream)" was premiered in 2023.
