Description:

My motivation for producing this CD is to sing and pass on to the next generation the great kindness and brightness of Koichi Kishi and the incomparable purity and intensity of Makiko Kinoshita, which I feel. -Kiyomi Toyoda Kiyomi Toyoda is a rare soprano who has been active at the forefront of the music world for many years. This CD features Japanese songs by Koichi Kishi (1909-37), a genius musician based in Berlin in the early 1930s who died young, and the mono-opera "Dawn Star" by Makiko Kinoshita, one of the most important Japanese composers of our time. After performing Koichi Kishi's works, I find myself filled with a calm emotion and an explosion of bright energy" (from the booklet). The mono-opera "Dawn Star" was commissioned and premiered by Toyoda in the fall of 2018, followed by a complete revision of the score by Kinoshita (included in Ongaku no Tomo Sha's "Makiko Kinoshita Songbook IV") and the Corona Vortex, which led to this recording. The overwhelming presence and delicacy of her singing are truly something that only Toyoda could have achieved. This is the birth of a historical masterpiece that shines brilliantly in the history of music and should be passed on to future generations. <Kiyomi Toyoda graduated from the Toho Gakuen School of Music with a degree in vocal performance.Studied at the Master Class at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne, Germany, and obtained the German National Certificate C for Church Musicians.
