Description:
Imaginary Americana Music and Traces of Dreams Woven by a Japanese Band Formed in 2018. A seven-member Japanese pop band. Their musical background spans a wide range, from jazz, hip-hop, and AOR to Latin and African music, and the tone of their work changes with each release. At the core of their sound is Lena, a female singer from Nagoya whose father is of Nordic/German-Canadian descent; her exotic, organic, and “magical” vocals exude a truly one-of-a-kind presence. This full-length album features a total of 10 tracks: the five singles originally released exclusively as digital downloads over the course of 2025, plus five newly recorded acoustic trio versions of those same singles. It marks the group’s first-ever release on LP vinyl. Popular illustrator toyameg was commissioned to create the artwork. The pop-inspired, catchy illustrations—with their soft, rich colors—brilliantly express the album’s concept of “fantastical Americana music and traces of dreams,” reminding listeners to “enjoy music” not just through sound, but also through sight and touch. The album opens with the mellow, beautiful, and laid-back “LoveMeBack,” while “Yoko”—a collaboration with Katie Ford, a singer-songwriter whose popularity is rapidly rising in her hometown of Nagoya—evokes the spirit of classic American rock. Then comes the soulful “Friends?” featuring Nenashi, a rapper and soul singer from origamiProduction, followed by the title track “Sweet Cider,” where a bouncy, pop-infused, cute vibe intertwines with jazzy horns. The album closes with “ "Good Life," which evokes the “traces of a dream,” the album comes to a close. However, when you flip the record to the B-side, the arrangements take on a more primitive feel, allowing you to experience a completely different world where you can better sense the core essence of each song, even though they are the same tracks.
