Creatures Of The Night" (1982), which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, is a landmark in the history of KISS. A complete reversal of fan expectations with its epic, heavy rock return to sound, it is not only a fan favorite but a cult classic, released in October 1982 by KISS, consisting of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, and Eric Carr. Creatures of the Night" is an album that consciously returns to the hard rock style that the band is known for. In addition to a harder sound, the album is characterized by a heavier, darker mood.The single "I Love It Loud" has since become a live staple, played on nearly every KISS tour, and "War Machine," the ballad "I Still Love You," and the album title track have also been performed frequently at their shows over the years. The track "Killer" is also of particular note as the first song co-written with Vinnie Vincent, who would join the band as guitarist shortly thereafter. Creatures of the Night" is the first song to be performed by the band, and it is also the first song to be performed by the band with Vinnie Vincent, who would join the band shortly thereafter as a guitarist. and Guitar Blayer, and was named one of the top five best albums of the year by both magazines at the end of 1982.
