Description:
Maki Nomiya, the original queen of Shibuya-kei, has released "Maki Nomiya, Singing Shibuya-kei. The ultimate best disc from the "Maki Nomiya, Singing Shibuya-kei" series is now available with new recordings and new mixes! The 2014 album "Maki Nomiya Sings Shibuya-kei. ~Miss Maki Nomiya Sings Shibuya-kei Standards" in 2014 to the latest "Maki Nomiya, Holiday Shibuya-kei wo Utau" at the end of 2017. The album is a compilation of representative "Shibuya-kei" songs from all five albums in the series. The lineup of collaborators includes Masayuki Suzuki, Ken Yokoyama, Kunihiko Murai, Monsieur Kamayatsu, Marina Watanabe, Clemontine Kaji Hideki, and many more. The song "Tokyo wa Yoru no Nanatoki" (released on December 1, 1993), a representative song of the "Shibuya-kei" style, was featured in the closing ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympics and continues to be loved on a global level. To commemorate the 25th anniversary of its release, a miraculous new recording of the song, arranged and produced by Yasuyo Konishi, has been realized for the first time since Pizzicato Five's dissolution in 2001. This wildly revived new recording was made in collaboration with the Shaolin Brothers, the much-talked-about rock band that Konishi first fell in love with in the 21st century. The first release also includes a live version of Yumi Arai's signature song, "Chuo Freeway. This song was actually a gift from Yumi to Monsieur as part of a TV program in the spring of 1976. Later, in November 2016, Monsieur Nomiya was singing this song at "Maki Nomiya, Shibuya-kei wo Utau 2016 - Otoko to Onna -" at Billboard Live Tokyo when Monsieur, who was in the audience, suddenly jumped on stage and joined the show! Monsieur Monsieur, who was in the audience, suddenly jumped on stage and joined Maki Nomiya in singing the song. This time, a historically valuable documentary sound recording of the performance was also included. DISC-2 includes the latest live performance at Motion Blue Yokohama in February 2018 in its entirety! The artwork is again by "Shibuya-kei" visual maestro Mitsuo Shindo.
